Pure aniline leather: untreated, exclusive and wonderfully soft

Aniline leather is a collective term for very high quality, untreated smooth leather, which can come from different species. As with all smooth leathers, the outside of the animal's hide is the side which is processed. Wrinkles and even skin injuries are clearly visible. Graining remains intact and gives aniline leather an individual and very natural-looking character. An even surface appearance is always unequivocal proof of an immaculate skin of aniline leather.

Pure aniline as a cover material for upholstered furniture

Aniline leather is a valued cover material for elegant and prestigious upholstered furniture. It has a sensual, very elegant appearance and makes a significant contribution to the sophisticated ambience of any establishment.

Aniline leathers are extremely beautiful, natural and exclusive. When in contact with the skin, they immediately absorb the heat, are breathable and feel very comfortable and soft. Due to them being untreated, however, they have no protective colour coating and are therefore very sensitive. Spilled drops penetrate directly into the leather and are thus visible. Cleaning is sometimes tricky, depending on the type of stain, and therefore it is especially important to treat aniline leather only with specially formulated care products. Furniture upholstered with aniline leather should not be exposed to permanent sunlight as far as possible, as the leather can then fade relatively quickly.

dyeing aniline leather

Unlike the pigmented or semi-pigmented smooth leather, aniline leather obtains its colour only through a simple barrel dyeing process using soluble dyes. After dyeing, the skin pores remain completely open. This allows the leather to retain its natural suppleness and gives it a high level of breathability. As an upholstery leather, aniline leather also comes with the positive characteristic of quickly warming up because it soon takes on the temperature of human skin. Aniline leather owes its name to the aniline dyes; however, nowadays these dyes are usually replaced by gentler dyes.

A brief overview of aniline leather:

· Original, untreated, elegant, high quality. Leather with a fully unique character.

· It is fully impregnated with dye, but otherwise largely natural. The individual skin pores are still very clearly visible as hair-thin holes.

· If you rub your fingernail along the surface, it will leave a "trace", but this polishes itself out again through daily use.

· Its natural, untreated surface makes it very soft, warm and sensually pleasing.

· The open skin pores allow a high level of breathability.  The leather adapts to body temperature in no time.

· Due to the untreated surface, pure aniline is unfortunately very sensitive and prone to stains and signs of wear.

· Pure aniline develops an individual character over time, this "patina" adds to the charm of aniline leathers.

· Since only flawless and scar-free hides can be used, which are rare, purely aniline-dyed leathers are much more expensive than pigmented leathers.
