Cotton
Cotton fabrics
Cotton fabrics are natural fibre fabrics, as the raw material is obtained from plants. The name cotton comes from the fact that it grows on trees (actually on tall bushes). This plant only thrives in very specific regions of the world.
Cotton is one of the oldest and most important raw materials in the textile industry. The natural fiber is contained in many textile materials and is therefore grown in large quantities all over the world.
Due to its many positive properties, cotton fabrics are the most widely used textile fabrics in the world.
Production
The name cotton comes from the fact that it grows on trees (actually on tall bushes). This plant only thrives in very specific regions of the world. Cotton is obtained from the bolls of the cotton bush, which grows in tropical and subtropical climates.
When the bolls are ripe, they open and the white seed fibers spill out. These fibers can be easily spun, woven and dyed.

Care tips for cotton fabrics
Textile fabrics made from cotton fibers are quite robust. They do not get dirty as quickly or develop unpleasant odors and therefore need to be washed less often than synthetic textiles. Pure cotton fabrics can withstand temperatures of up to 90°C during the wash cycle, but can shrink by up to 10 percent during the first boil wash.
Upholstery covers made of cotton fabric are very easy to clean. We recommend PURATEX® Strong Cleaner with subsequent impregnation.
